Mindanao Grappling Competition an interview with the Organizer

Last Sunday the 18th of April 2010, became the 4th Southern Philippines Brazilian Jujitsu Open and No-Gi Grappling Challenge. MMA Davao were able to interview the organizer of the event Mr. Mars Cenojas, who he himself is a practitioner an instructor of the sport and a gym owner.

MMA Davao: How does it feel that the event is finally over and it’s a success?

Mr. Mars Cenojas: STRESS-FREE AGAIN.......... and so much satisfied.


MMA Davao: How long did you plan for the event?

Mr. Mars Cenojas: The 3rd competition was last Jan. 31, 2010 then it took me again 3 mos. to prepare for the 4th event in BJJ and NO-GI.








MMA Davao:It was a well attended tourney; there were how many teams and how many players all in all?

Mr. Mars Cenojas: There were 9 teams (Cenojas MMA, Warrior BJJ, 2 Teams from CDO, Butuan Extreme MMA, Edge MMA, Kidapawan Grapplers, Star Bods Gym and Smashville Fitness Center) I think there were about almost 80 participants in both BJJ and NO-GI.


MMA Davao:I have seen that Mr. Kamphuis attended the event and at several occasions refereed …What was his role and how are you affiliated with him?
What do you hope to achieve by doing this event?

Mr. Mars Cenojas:I just want to propagate BJJ and Grappling here in Davao., By having official competitions that is recognized by the BJJ Federation Phils. and Asia in the person of Coach Stephen Kamphuis will help disseminate to the public about BJJ and Grappling. MMA Davao: I see that you’re the organizer and you have players too, how did your team do?

Mr. Mars Cenojas:Just Team effort and support.


MMA Davao: In your own opinion, how is the grappling level of our local mindanaon players compared to the national scene?

Mr. Mars Cenojas:At least, we can now level up with them now coz when we joined the previous Pan Asia International competitions in manila, hindi rin na dehado tayo at nakakuha din tayo ng GOLDs in diff. wt. categories in 2 separate events.


MMA Davao: When is the next event and what are your expectations?

Mr. Mars Cenojas: I'm planning to have a NOVICE championship anytime this year and I hope other team will be interested to join.
