Isaac Tuling (BeeFit Pythons Pit) makes Charles De Tomas (Yaw Yan Kampilan) quit
Beefit Python’s Isaac Tuling was a picture of
frustration in the 1st round. Charles De Tomas had a great game plan
that practically took away Tuling’s strikes. No offense to Tuling who
eventually won, but he looked like a wrestling dummy in the 1st.
Aside from surviving a very nasty kimura that would’ve made others surely tap
out, Isaac did not have any answers for Charles’ pressuring on the ropes and
takedowns. When not going for a far side armbar or kimura from sidemount,
Charles employed some excellent ground and pound that opened up a cut on
Tuling’s forehead. When Round 1 ended, it seemed like it was only a matter of
time before Tuling would quit. Round 2 was much the same as the 1st
with Charles getting the fight on the ground and dominating from the top
position. He only needed 31 seconds to win a decision when things were
reversed. Charles shot for a takedown and Tuling was able to sprawl and throw
punches to his opponents head. Charles tried to continue his takedown but when
his arms only grabbed air, he had to tap out due to either exhaustion or
Tuling’s hard punches.
Cenojas MMA’s Jonathan Sumogat just might be the
next big thing from Mindanao. He basically went into the
fight with a gameplan and executed it beautifully. Mj Abrillo of Yaw-Yan
Kamplian wasn’t able to throw anything as he was immediately taken down and
dominated by the “Spartan” Sumogat who used very good ground skills to control
his opponent from the top and dish out damage. Abrillo tried to defend but
Sumogat’s accurate strikes was just too much and this forced him to give up his
back prompting Sumogat to land a rear naked choke that ended the fight at the
6:32 mark of the fight.
Mark “MUGEN” Striegl (Team Buffet ) outclasses Alcer Lozada (Kamphuis-Fabricio)
Mark Striegl of Team Buffet defined dominance in
his fight against Alcer Lozada as he took everything Alcer gave and then showed
everyone a level of MMA not before seen in the URCC ring. Striegl was calm
inside the ring and patiently stayed in the pocket as Lozada threw some head
kicks. When Lozada gave the slightest opening, Striegl quickly took down Lozada
where he began a Jiu-Jistu clinic. Alcer tried to escape the from the bottom
but Team Buffet fighter was able to maintain his position and land some good
shots. When they were again standing up, Lozada forced a clinch that proved
costly. Mark patiently stayed in the clinch and threw a knee that dropped
Lozada setting up a fight ending rear naked choke early in the first round.
Will “The Kill” Chope (Team Buffet) wins war against Angelito “The Saint” Manguray (BeeFit Pythons Pit)
In one of the most anticipated fights on the
card, Will Chope and Angelito Manguray spent 2:53 seconds of the first round in
a back and forth battle that got the crowd going. 48 year old Manguray proved
that age is but a number as he took the fight to the much taller Chop who stood
at 6 feet and 4 inches. Will was able to use his 10 inch reach advantage to
keep Manguray at bay but the fighting doctor clearly landed much of his power
punches and I saw Will get a bit wobbly at least twice. To Chope’s credit, he
never let up and kept on attacking and when the fight went to the ground, the
much longer Australian who has a love affair with Baguio
sunk in a rear naked choke after getting Manguray’s back. At the end of the
fight, Chope got the mic from URCC host Boyet Singson and declared that he will
be going after Ricardo Sapno’s Featherweight belt.
