I just went on the UFC site to look at upcoming fights, fights which look interesting. This Sunday Philippine time it will be UFC 119 and here is the fight card.

Noguiera vs Bader
Serra vs Lytle
Sherk vs Dunham
Guillard vs Stephens
Dollaway vs Doerksen
Mitrione vs Beltran
Tavares vs Audinwood
Lopez vs Lowe
Grant vs Paulino
Hunt vs McCorkle

Main Event

Sera, Sherk, Bader and Mir seems interesting, is it PPV worthy?.. am not sure about that. As for me what caught my attention is UFC 121 that is Velasquez vs Lesnar, with some heavy undercards...this 23rd of October..for the fans enjoy the weekend!!!

Comments from Fight fans and fighters....

i know crocop been look of for few years but i got a feeling that he realises that this win could bring him to the titelshot and because of that he brings his killer spirit with him and takes out mir,,mirs chance would be get crocop down,,wont happen easy,,i know mir is looking better with his hands,,but against who? i think his plan must be to get close enough to get crocop on ground,,that will make him expose himself to mirkos standup ,,mirko by tko round 3

Phillipe Nover Who is gonna take it? Mir or Crocop? Im thinking Mir by decision. Maybe he'll score a takedown and a few submission attempts.

crocop will murder mir with his left leg

i choose mir for his jiu-jitsu

Shane Wiggand
Crocop if they fight standin up, Mir when it gets down...

MIR all the way...Yeeehaw

mir, he has more tools

crocop 500 bucks wassssup haha

i think mir has the upper hand, more tools, younger, better striker today, but i think cro cop is going to upset mir, i dont know, i just have a feeling. lol

i choose Cro cop because his excellent in striking. He has more fighting experience compared to Mir.

Warm up and Cool down

Do we really need warm ups and cool downs? Before, I used to hear warm ups but cool downs, no. I don't even know the term cool down before. To my astonishment, its a necessity in every training. These things, that we often times take for granted, this minute details, should be taken seriously, for an athlete to have a maximum work out. And we ask why?

I hope this would Help....

Warm Up

Muscle stiffness is thought to be directly related to muscle injury and therefore the warm up should be aimed at reducing muscle stiffness.

Warming up should at least consist of the following:

Dynamic stretches are more appropriate to the warm up as they help reduce muscle stiffness. Static stretching exercises do not reduce muscle stiffness. For further information see the following articles:

What are the benefits of a warm up?

Performance may be improved, as an appropriate warm up will result in an:

  • Increased speed of contraction and relaxation of warmed muscles
  • Dynamic exercises reduce muscle stiffness
  • Greater economy of movement because of lowered viscous resistance within warmed muscles
  • Facilitated oxygen utilization by warmed muscles because haemoglobin releases oxygen more readily at higher muscle temperatures
  • Facilitated nerve transmission and muscle metabolism at higher temperatures; a specific warm up can facilitate motor unit recruitment required in subsequent all out activity
  • Increased blood flow through active tissues as local vascular beds dilate, increasing metabolism and muscle temperatures
  • Allows the heart rate get to a workable rate for beginning exercise
  • Mentally focused on the training or competition

Cool Down

Cooling down should consist of the following:

  • 5 to 10 minutes jogging/walking - decrease body temperature and remove waste products from the working muscles
  • 5 to 10 minutes static stretching exercises

Static stretches are more appropriate to the cool down as they help muscles to relax, realign muscle fibres and re-establish their normal range of movement. These stretches should be held for approximately 10 seconds.

What are the benefits of a cool down?

An appropriate cool down will:

  • aid in the dissipation of waste products - including lactic acid
  • reduce the potential for DOMS (Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness)
  • reduce the chances of dizziness or fainting caused by the pooling of venous blood at the extremities
  • reduce the level of adrenaline in the blood
  • allows the heart rate to return to its resting rate

Smoker Fight 3 NCCC Mall

Better late than never. Last month was a month full of activities here in Davao City. Especially in the world of martial arts. First of all it was the the annual festival of festivals here in Davao,
The KADAYAWAN Festival. A Festival where local and foreign tourists can witness the bounty of fruits. The festival honors Davao’s artistic, cultural and historical heritage, its past personified by the ancestral “lumads”, its people as they celebrate on the streets, and its floral industry as its representatives parade in full regalia in thanksgiving for the blessings granted on the city. A celebration that interfaces the three aspects: tribal; industrial and; arts and entertainment. The festivities are highlighted with floral floats, street-dancing competitions and exhibits that showcases the island's tourism products and services. Its one of the reasons why I was not able to write anything for the past several weeks.

Part of the Festivities was the Smoker Fight 3 entitled Blood Kompak, August 20, 2010.
This time we added a mixed martial arts competition. This third smoker fight was a joint effort between the Davao's Finest Tattoo artists, and Top Rock and reggae bands. It was a Tattoo Festival wherein artists from everywhere in Pinas gathered to compete and after which the culmination was the smoker fight backed up by the top bands rock/metal/reggae bands here in Davao.

Results of the fight were already posted. (click to view the results)
