POST Fight Interview with THE SAINT

Before anything else, in behalf of all the MMA fans, enthusiasts, practitioners here in Davao and members of MMA Davao FB group, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
The Saint: Thank you!!!

MMA DAVAO: Give us your view about the fight?
The Saint: It was a hell of a fight.

MMA DAVAO: Do you have a game plan for your opponent?
The Saint: There was no particular game plan. I always get in the ring relying mainly with my instincts. I always free myself from anything when i am inside the ring.

MMA DAVAO: During the last few seconds before you knocked him down, he was hitting you with several good overhand and straight punches, what was on your mind?
The Saint: I was careless then because i was thinking of finishing him only to realize he can still throw heavy punches but i am already focus in finishing him.

MMA DAVAO: Any comment about your opponent?
The Saint: I really don't know him that much but i found him nice even during the weigh in.

MMA DAVAO: How does it feel to have the belt?
The Saint: Scary, we all know that a lot of fighters want the belt. I was not really after the belt, it so happen that i got the belt.

MMA DAVAO: Words for your fans, friends, and people who 100% supports you!
The Saint: Thank you very much!

Again Congratulations, thanks for taking the time for the interview and More power to you!!

Rogers, a resident of Minneapolis, Minn., who also stands 6-feet-5, and weighs 265 pounds, will attempt to return to his winning ways after an admirable effort against the No. 1 heavyweight in the world - Fedor Emelianenko - in the main event on The CBS television Network on Nov. 7, 2009, from Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill. on Nov. 7, 2009.

The 31-year-old Arlovski's start will be his first since an upset defeat to Rogers.

Also a former world heavyweight champion, the 6-foot-4 inch, 260-pound Silva, of Brazil, initiated a six-fight winning streak with a first round (3:49) TKO (strikes) over dangerous brawler Wesley "Cabbage" Correira in Southaven, Mississippi on Feb. 10, 2007. Silva is unbeaten (4-0) in competition in Japan, winning two fights in K-1 and a pair of bouts in Sengoku.

The Lightweight Title Fight

The bout that surprisingly got the most attention from the fans, was the lightweight title bout between Angelito 'The Saint' Manguray, an undefeated, 42-year-old, karate blackbelt, and Badong Domasian, a former pro boxer, who's 15 years his junior. Manguray fought with a wide karate stance, stayed elusive and destroyed... Domasian by using a wide variety of kicks, knees, and punches that dropped his opponent several times in the bout. Every time Manguray floors Badong, he threw vicious axe kicks to the grounded opponent. Domasian curled up at one point after taking an axe kick to the stomach, and Manguray followed up by unleashing another hard kick to the body which would've made PRIDE fans nostalgic.
When asked asked about winning the URCC Lightweight Title on the post-fight interview, 'The Saint" stayed humble and said, "Fighting is my life... I just took my shot and I did well". A doctor by day, and a brutal karate-based fighter by night, Angelito Manguray, at 42-years-young, certainly stole that show that night.

LW (159 lbs): Angelito Manguray def. Badong Domasian by TKO at 6:19 in the 1st, to win the vacant URCC Lightweight Title, at 42 years of age.

Any thoughts about the URCC Lightweight Title Champion Dr. Angelito “The Saint” Manguray?

Bambi Posadas

We still have much to improve, we are not closing our minds about it, but at the same time, i'm proud and privileged to have a fighter like the saint. i guess perseverance and hardwork really paid off for us. i think lito should be the role model of all the mma fighters and wannabee's who want to excell in this sport...

Mars Garcia Cenojas

He deserved it. He really did his best. NO DOUBTS. This is such an inspiration to all the MMA enthusiasts. Davao made it to the top. It's not an easy job to achieve such title as the URCC Lightweight Title Champion. Mabuhay Davao! Mabuhay D'Saint.....

Ernest Damaso

Angelito Manguray is undeniably the pride of Davao in the field of Mixed Martial Arts… a true Champion not only in the ring, but also in the heart of his family and friends. LitLit is very amiable & humble, maybe this is the reason why he was tagged as “The Saint”. I haven’t heard of any person with ill thoughts or words against this guy. He is a very responsible husband, father and a loyal friend. I congratulate him for bagging the Lightweight Title in Manila, I was there to witness this event and was so proud to see and cheer for my 42 year old friend kick ass and bring home to Davao the URCC Championship Belt. CONGRATS LIT as always – “you are indeed a true champion!”

Bobby Antepuesto
Truly Exceptional! Factor in his age, one can easily be amazed at his agility and his strength at 42! Factor in his experience, then you have a fighter who is not about to throw in the towel just yet! Age and experience - a deadly combination in the URCC! As they say, his age is just a number!

Ricardo Morante Sapno III

as one of my co-partner in training, Dr. Manguray is humble fighter.
